Biography:
Dr. Selim Shahriar is currently the head of the Laboratory for Atomic and Photonic Technologies at Northwestern University. He is the AT&T Professor in the Department of Electrical and Computer Engineering and Professor in the Department of Physics and Astronomy. He is currently the Director of the Solid-state, Photonics, and Quantum Technologies Division within ECE. He is also a council member of the LIGO Scientific Collaboration and directs the NU branch of the DoD Center of Excellence in Advanced Quantum Sensing. He received his B.S. (86), MS (88) and PhD (92) degrees from MIT. His research interests include slow and fast light, quantum computing, gravitational wave detection, tests of general relativity, holographic and polarimetric image processing, atomic clocks, and atom interferometry. He has published more than 600 journal and conference papers. He has an H-index of 80, and his work has been cited more than 56,500 times. He is a Fellow of SPIE and OSA.
